Gaslight Village on a Cold Winter Night

Gaslight Village on a Cold Winter Night

Ricoh GR, f/5.6, 1/15 sec., ISO-3200, 18.3mm (January 23, 2014)

Gaslight Village, in East Grand Rapids, viewed from the upper deck of the parking garage. The night was intensely cold, so I snapped a couple of pictures and moved on when my hands felt like they were about to fall off. The colors were pretty, of course, with blue still in the sky. But this gritty image captures the cold, cold, cold.

This is my photo of the week for 19-26 January 2014 partly because I like the viewpoint, partly for the quality of the light, but mostly for the way the bitter cold was characteristic of this winter in Grand Rapids and the larger Midwest.
